Wyoming Democratic Party seeks applicants to replace state Rep. Liz Gentile

Evansville legislator to resign June 25

CASPER - The Wyoming Democratic Party is seeking applicants to replace state Rep. Liz Gentile of Evansville, who announced this week that she will resign her seat in the state House, effective June 25.

Effective immediately, the Democratic Party will begin the process to choose someone to fill out the remainder of Gentile's term representing the people of state House District 36, which includes Evansville and east Casper.

State law requires the Wyoming Democratic Party Central Committee to arrange a meeting of the Democratic precinct committeemen and committeewomen of House District 36 within 15 days of Gentile's resignation. At that meeting, the precinct committee men and women must select three people qualified to fill the House seat.

Afterward, the Central Committee will submit the list of three names to the Natrona County commissioners, who will then have five days to appoint one of them to fill the remainder of Gentile's term, which runs through 2008.

People interested in applying to fill out the House term can submit their names to the Wyoming Democratic Party by:

- E-mail to info@wyomingdemocrats.com.

- Traditional mail to P.O. Box 1963, Casper, WY, 82602.

- In person at 254 N. Center St., Suite 205, in Casper.

- Telephone by contacting Natrona County Democratic Party Chairman John Faunce at 307-631-9154.

The deadline for people to submit their names for consideration for filling the legislative vacancy is 5 p.m., Thursday, June 28.

Applicants are invited to attend the monthly meeting of the Natrona County Democrats at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 28, during which they will be allowed to briefly introduce themselves and explain why they are interested in filling the House seat. The meeting is at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Hall at 691 English Drive.

The precinct committee members will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, July 2, at the IBEW Hall to choose three finalists for the position. The state party will then submit those names to the Natrona County commissioners, who will have five days to choose one of them to represent House District 36.
