Democrats release MORE UPDATED INFO on county caucuses

Laramie and Platte counties move to bigger sites; Goshen County finalizes location; deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 22

CASPER - The Wyoming Democratic Party today released its second round of updated information on the March 8 county caucuses, in which any Wyoming voter who is registered in their county as a Democrat by Friday, Feb. 22, is invited to help choose the party's presidential nominee.

Among the changes are that the Goshen County Democrats have finalized the time and location of their caucus, while Democrats in Laramie and Platte counties have moved theirs to bigger sites in order to accommodate more people.

The Laramie County caucus/convention will now be at the Cheyenne Civic Center, while Platte County will now hold its event at the First State Bank conference center in Wheatland. An up-to-date schedule with the times and locations of the events in every county follows at the end of this release. The schedule and other details are also available at the state party Website at www.wyomingdemocrats.com.

"Based on the extremely close the race for the nomination, and the fact that we have seen record turnout among Democrats in so many states across the country, we are anticipating an unprecedented level of turnout for our caucuses on March 8," said Wyoming Democratic Party Communications Director Bill Luckett.

Luckett said Wyoming's Democratic caucuses should play a larger-than-normal role in determining who will be the party's presidential nominee due to the competetiveness of the race.

"The Clinton campaign is sending staffers to multiple locations across the state, and the Obama campaign has already sent staff members to several Wyoming towns," Luckett said. "When is the last time we had multiple presidential campaigns send staffers to Wyoming? This year will provide an historic opportunity for Wyoming Democrats to decide who will win the party's presidential nomination."

State Democratic Party Chairman John Millin said people who are 17 years old, and who will turn 18 on or before Nov. 4, are eligible to register with their county clerks and participate in the Democratic county caucuses and conventions.

"Our Delegate Selection Plan allows any Wyoming resident who will be 18 on Election Day to participate in the March 8 caucuses," Chairman Millin said. "This is a great opportunity for young people to get their first taste of involvement in our political process."

Seventeen-year-olds who will be 18 by Election Day can register to vote with their county clerk's office under the provisions of Wyoming Statute 22-3-102(a)(ii).

As of today, Democrats have secured times and locations for all 23 county caucuses. Those times and locations are as follows (with the number of delegates each county gets to send to the state convention in parentheses):
