Seriously, I never imagined when I took this job that we would see the day when the two front-runners for the Democratic presidential nomination would hold events in Wyoming on the eve of our county caucuses. Not to mention the fact that one of them will almost certainly be president a year from now. And as an added bonus, the greatest president of the 21st Century (so far) would be touring the state to join in the fun. Breaking today from the Casper Star-Tribune:
Hillary Clinton to visit Casper
Barack Obama sets Casper, Laramie visits
Campaign sets Wyo schedule for Bill Clinton
This is what it’s all about! Although I’ve got to admit, it’s been all I can do to keep up with the volume of phone calls today from nearly every national media outlet you can think of, and of course our brave reporters in this state and region. For the most part, they’re all interested in covering our county caucuses/conventions this Saturday, so I think there’s a reasonable chance we’ll get our 15 minutes in the national spotlight when the deal goes down on Saturday. Speaking of that deal, Wyoming Public Radio has this preview:
Democrats brace for weekend caucus
The Cody Enterprise interviews Park County Democratic Party Chair Margaret Whited about her group’s upcoming caucus at the old Marathon Building:
Democrats to decide on Obama, Clinton
The Associated Press sums it all up this way:
Tiny and very Republican, Wyoming is a Democratic player at last
It’s hard to believe, amidst this impending onslaught of political superstars, that there’s a lot of other news going on out there, but indeed there is …

Mar 8, 2008 | Robert Silvers | rsilversfish@yahoo.comVery disappointed that my wife and I along with others were turned away from voting in the WY caucus this morning in Lander at 10am. We understood that the polls were to be open until 1pm. People with us drove 50 miles to vote only to be turned away. Very sad and deflating.

Mar 7, 2008 | Jean Goodman | goodmanjt@verizon.netTaking part in the process is important which ever candidate you are supporting. We need more Democrats in Congress as well as winning the White House. In January, we lost a poet/songwriter who campaigned with Bobby Kennedy and marched with Rev. Martin L. King. This video is a tribute to him and America as much as it is to the candidate it represents. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lN7QMLRRMp4
