Where are the retorts?
Aug 17, 2006 | Kimberly Holloway | hollowaywyo@peoplepc.comI am Kim Holloway, Treasurer of the Natrona County Democrats, and what ticks me off is the lack of response to the Republican representatives stance on issues like the estate tax, the deficit, energy policy, and the war! Senator Thomas wrote to tell me that he thinks "no tax is more distasteful than the estate tax." He went on to say he understood my support for the "death tax," (since it only affects the top income bracket in the country, 2% of the population) but he "doesn't believe death should be a taxable event." How can we let this position go without pointing out how grossly misinformed our own senator seem to be? At a town meeting two years ago regarding Social Security, Senator Thomas answered a question about the surplus of funds generated by the baby boom generation of taxpayers, by simply feigning ignorance about where that money was spent and why is it no longer in the treasury. Please! When exactly was he in the House of Representatives? Does he remember Ronald Reagan? We need a rapid response team of fact checkers to reveal what fools these politicians are. I am ready for more informed and thoughtful representation at all levels of government.

Aug 16, 2006 | Jaret Maul | jaret_maul@hotmail.comMy name is Jaret Maul. I'm a 22 year old college student through the University of Wyoming. I'm extremely dissapointed in the number of Democrats running for local, state, and federal positions within our state. Just because we live in a state that is for the most part strictly Republican doesn't mean that we can't challenge them in office. It seems to me that we need to grow more of a backbone and stand up for what we believe in.
