GOP issues bizarre press release

Wyoming Republican Party leadership provided further evidence Monday that it is totally bereft of useful ideas by issuing a press release stating that Gov. Freudenthal is a Democrat. This is so inane on so many levels it's hard to know where to start. Apparently, the Wyoming GOP leadership's approach is to insult the intelligence of Wyoming's voters by assuming that they will blindly vote for everyone with an "R" next to their name on the ballot, when the fact is that Wyoming's voters have a proud history of independence and voting for the best candidate in every election. The GOP's press release then launches a "criticism" of Gov. Dave by reporting that he has given money to past respected state leaders like former Gov. Mike Sullivan and former Secretary of State Kathy Karpan, as well as Democratic presidential candidates. At the same time, as the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle reports, gubernatorial challenger Ray Hunkins has also donated money to Guv Suv and Kathy Karpan, leaving readers to wonder what point the GOP leadership was trying to make with its press release. Finally, the GOP shows the public what a poor investment it made in its out-of-state, negative-campaign research consultant by wrongly claiming that Gov. Dave worked for another state's governor in the late '70s. In fact, as anyone who follows Wyoming politics closely (like, one might assume, the Wyoming GOP leadership) should know, Gov. Dave worked for Wyoming Gov. Ed Herschler at that time.
